Overview

32-134D is an experimental small molecule drug under investigation for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and related diabetic eye diseases. It acts by inhibiting hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF), a protein involved in abnormal blood vessel formation and vascular leakage in the retina. In preclinical studies, intravitreal injection of 32-134D reduced HIF levels, inhibited neovascularization, and prevented retinal vascular leakage without causing retinal toxicity. The drug has demonstrated a prolonged duration of action in animal models, remaining active in the retina for approximately 12 days after a single injection.
