Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**32P BioSilicon** is an investigational, implantable radiopharmaceutical device composed of microparticles of highly pure silicon encapsulating the radioactive isotope phosphorus-32 (32P). It is injected directly into tumors, where localized β-particle emission from 32P delivers high doses of ionizing radiation to tumor cells, causing cell death predominantly through irradiation-induced damage, while minimizing systemic exposure. The device leverages the physical and chemical properties of both silicon and 32P to enable targeted brachytherapy. Animal and limited human studies have investigated its use for solid tumors, especially unresectable pancreatic cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma[1][2][4].
