Overview

3BP-4961 (SPECTROFAP) is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent developed by 3B Pharmaceuticals for the detection and characterization of tumors expressing Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP). FAP is a cell surface protease that is highly upregulated on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the stroma of most solid tumors, while remaining largely absent in healthy adult tissues. 3BP-4961 is a peptide-based ligand designed to bind with high affinity to FAP. When labeled with the radioisotope Technetium-99m (99mTc), it serves as a tracer for Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging, allowing for the non-invasive visualization of the tumor microenvironment. The agent is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for use in patients with FAP-expressing tumors.
