Overview

3E9 anti-MBG monoclonal antibody is a murine IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically binds and neutralizes marinobufagenin (MBG), an endogenous bufadienolide cardiotonic steroid. MBG inhibits Na/K-ATPase activity and is implicated in pathological states such as uremic cardiomyopathy, preeclampsia, and NaCl-sensitive hypertension. 3E9 mAb selectively targets MBG and exhibits minimal cross-reactivity with other bufadienolides and no cross-reactivity with cardenolide sodium pump inhibitors or other steroid hormones. In preclinical models, administration of 3E9 mAb lowers blood pressure, reverses cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis, and restores Na/K-ATPase activity. Its mechanism is immunoneutralization of MBG, thereby opposing the associated inhibition of Na/K-ATPase and subsequent downstream pathologic effects[1][2][3].
