3F6 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by ImmunArtes LLC that targets Staphylococcus aureus protein A (SpA). It is specifically designed to prevent S. aureus sepsis in very-low-birth-weight (VLBW) neonates. The antibody functions by neutralizing the immune-evasive properties of Protein A, specifically its ability to bind the Fcγ portion of immunoglobulins and crosslink B cell receptors. By blocking these interactions, 3F6 promotes complement-dependent opsonophagocytosis and enhances the clearance of S. aureus by the host's immune system. As of early 2025, the candidate is in preclinical development and has received funding from CARB-X to advance toward clinical trials.
