Drug intelligence / Profile preview
3Mix-NS antibiotic paste is an intracanal triple antibiotic paste formulation used in the Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR) technique for endodontic therapy in primary teeth. It consists of three broad-spectrum antibiotics—metronidazole, ciprofloxacin, and clindamycin—mixed with normal saline (NS) as a vehicle. This combination is designed to sterilize infected root canals and periapical lesions, particularly in cases of pulp necrosis or irreversible pulpitis in primary molars, without requiring extensive mechanical instrumentation. Metronidazole targets anaerobic bacteria by disrupting DNA synthesis, ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV to prevent replication, and clindamycin inhibits the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit to block protein synthesis.
