Overview

AHBuBP is a synthetic **amino-bisphosphonate** compound structurally related to other bisphosphonates such as alendronic acid. Its mechanism involves potent inhibition of bone resorption, attributed to its strong anti-osteoclastic activity. AHBuBP demonstrated up to 100–1000 times greater activity in inhibiting bone resorption in animal models compared to earlier bisphosphonates. When administered in vivo in rats, it shows marked efficacy in increasing metaphyseal bone density. AHBuBP can also cause inflammatory reactions in animal models, such as splenic enlargement and exudate accumulation. It is not a marketed pharmaceutical, but is a research compound of interest for bone metabolic disorders[2][4].
