Overview

4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyamphetamine (commonly known as DOB or Brolamfetamine) is a potent psychedelic drug and substituted amphetamine of the phenethylamine class. It was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin in 1967. DOB acts primarily as an agonist at serotonin receptors, especially the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor subtypes 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C, with high binding affinity (Ki values of approximately 2.2 nM for 5-HT2A and 2.8 nM for 5‑HT2C). Its psychoactive effects are characterized by strong hallucinogenic properties and long duration of action (18–30 hours). The compound is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States due to its high potential for abuse and lack of accepted medical use[1][3][4][5]. High doses may cause significant vasoconstriction.
