The 4-valent HPV vaccine developed by Bovax is a recombinant protein vaccine designed to prevent infections caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) types 6, 11, 16, and 18. The vaccine utilizes virus-like particle (VLP) technology, where the L1 capsid proteins of the targeted HPV types are expressed in the yeast *Hansenula polymorpha* and self-assemble into VLPs. These VLPs mimic the structure of the actual virus but lack genetic material, thereby eliciting a potent neutralizing antibody response without being infectious. The vaccine is primarily indicated for the prevention of cervical cancer, vaginal precancerous lesions, and genital warts. Clinical data from Phase III trials indicate that the vaccine is highly immunogenic and well-tolerated, demonstrating non-inferiority to the established 4-valent vaccine Gardasil in terms of safety and immunogenicity.
