This quadrivalent (4-valent) human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a recombinant protein vaccine developed by Shanghai Bovax Biotechnology. It targets the L1 capsid proteins of HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. The vaccine utilizes virus-like particle (VLP) technology, where the recombinant L1 proteins are expressed in the methylotrophic yeast *Hansenula polymorpha* and subsequently purified and adsorbed to an aluminum adjuvant. It is designed to induce high titers of neutralizing antibodies to prevent infections and associated diseases, specifically cervical cancer, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VaIN), and genital warts. In Phase III clinical trials conducted in Chinese women, the vaccine demonstrated non-inferiority to the benchmark Gardasil 4 in terms of safety and immunogenicity.
