Overview

4P021 is a small molecule drug candidate developed as a CXCR4 antagonist for the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and pulmonary complications, particularly those associated with viral respiratory infections such as COVID-19 and influenza. The drug works by inhibiting the recruitment and accumulation of immune cells, specifically neutrophils and lymphocytes, into the lungs. This mechanism aims to prevent both acute and chronic pulmonary complications by modulating immune cell trafficking in response to severe viral infection. Preclinical studies have demonstrated efficacy in blocking CXCR4-mediated pathways relevant to lung injury. 4P021 is being developed by 4Living Biotech, a subsidiary of 4P-Pharma, with collaborative research involving academic partners including Institut Pasteur de Lille and University Hospital Bordeaux[1][5].
