Drug intelligence / Profile preview
4% avocado gel is a thermoreversible herbal formulation developed by the Rungta College of Dental Sciences and Research for the treatment of chronic periodontitis. It is designed for local drug delivery into the subgingival pocket as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP). The gel's thermoreversible property allows it to be applied as a liquid that solidifies at body temperature, ensuring prolonged retention at the site of inflammation. The active components of avocado are believed to exert anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby helping to reduce periodontal pocket depth and improve overall gingival health.
