5-fluorouracil + Dexeryl is a topical combination of two products: 5-fluorouracil, a chemotherapeutic antimetabolite that inhibits DNA synthesis by blocking thymidylate synthase, and Dexeryl, an emollient cream (containing glycerol, vaseline, and paraffin) used primarily for moisturizing and protecting the skin barrier. 5-fluorouracil is widely used for the treatment of actinic keratosis, superficial basal cell carcinoma, and other dermatologic malignancies, acting by inducing cytotoxic cell death in abnormal or malignant skin cells[1][3][4]. Dexeryl serves as a barrier-protecting, hydrating therapy for conditions like eczema and xerosis, but has no direct anti-neoplastic or cytotoxic effect; it is generally used to soothe skin irritation or dryness caused by other dermatologic treatments. There is no evidence of synergistic therapeutic action between these two agents; combinations for clinical practice would typically be off-label, aiming to mitigate side effects of 5-fluorouracil, such as dermatitis or irritation, rather than for combined anti-tumor efficacy. No branded fixed-dose combination of these two drugs is commercially available; this combination appears to represent the simultaneous or sequential topical use of both agents.
