5-O-methylvisammioside is a natural chromone glycoside isolated from the dried root of *Saposhnikovia divaricata* (Fangfeng), a plant widely utilized in traditional Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Recent research has highlighted its potential as an antineoplastic agent, specifically in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The compound acts by inhibiting the HMGB1/RAGE/MEK/ERK signaling axis, which in turn suppresses the proliferation, migration, and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). In preclinical models, 5-O-methylvisammioside has demonstrated the ability to reduce tumor progression and microvascular density. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit vasospasm induced by the High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) protein.
