Overview

5-phospho-D-arabinohydroxamic acid is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of pentose phosphates. It is structurally similar to reaction intermediates in sugar metabolism and acts as a potent inhibitor of phosphoglucose isomerase by mimicking the cis-enediol(ate) intermediate but with a nitrogen atom replacing C1. This compound has been used experimentally to study enzyme mechanisms and inhibition but has no approved medical indications or clinical use[1][8].
