Drug intelligence / Profile preview
5F-MDMB-PICA is a synthetic cannabinoid belonging to the indole-based class of designer drugs. Its IUPAC name is methyl (2S)-2-{[1-(5-fluoropentyl)-1H-indole‑3-carbonyl]amino}-³,³-dimethylbutanoate. It acts as a potent full agonist at both the cannabinoid CB₁ and CB₂ receptors with EC₅₀ values of approximately 0.45 nM and 7.4 nM respectively—significantly more potent than Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)[2][4]. The compound produces psychoactive effects similar to THC but has been associated with severe adverse events including fatalities in humans[4][10]. It is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States and Schedule II under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971 due to its high abuse potential and lack of accepted medical use[7][10]. The drug is typically encountered as a component in herbal smoking mixtures or e-liquids for vaping.
