Overview

5RA-5RCM is a 10-day sequential therapy regimen developed for the eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* infection. The regimen is divided into two distinct phases: the first five days consist of rabeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) and amoxicillin (a beta-lactam antibiotic); the subsequent five days consist of rabeprazole, clarithromycin (a macrolide antibiotic), and metronidazole (a nitroimidazole antibiotic). This sequential approach is designed to improve eradication rates by reducing the bacterial load in the first phase and targeting remaining resistant strains in the second phase. The regimen was primarily studied by Buddhist Tzu Chi General Hospital in Taiwan in clinical trials comparing various sequential and triple therapy protocols for patients with dyspepsia or peptic ulcers.
