6-(3,5-diamino-4H-pyrazole-4-sulfonyl)chromen-2-one is a synthetic small molecule sulfonyl coumarin derivative developed as a non-cytotoxic anti-angiogenic agent. Synthesized by researchers at the National Research Centre in Egypt, the compound was evaluated for its therapeutic potential against hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells. In vitro studies demonstrated that the molecule is non-cytotoxic while exhibiting significant anti-migratory activity. Although biological assays suggested an MMP-independent mechanism for its anti-migratory effects, molecular docking studies indicated a high binding affinity for the active site of Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2). It is considered a promising lead compound for the development of targeted, non-toxic angiogenesis inhibitors for cancer therapy.
