6-grass pollen mixture

6-grass pollen mixture is a biologic allergen immunotherapy developed by ALK-Abello for the treatment of grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis. The product is a standardized allergenic extract formulated as an injection solution (and also investigated for sublingual use) containing a specific blend of pollens from six grass species: *Agrostis gigantea* (Redtop), *Dactylis glomerata* (Orchard grass), *Festuca pratensis* (Meadow Fescue), *Lolium perenne* (Perennial Rye), *Phleum pratense* (Timothy), and *Poa pratensis* (Kentucky Blue grass). It is typically available in multiple-dose vials at a concentration of 100,000 BAU/mL (Bioequivalent Allergy Units per milliliter). The therapy works by desensitizing the patient's immune system through regular exposure to the allergens, eventually leading to clinical tolerance and a reduction in symptoms and the need for rescue medication.
