6-methoxydihydrosanguinarine is a natural benzophenanthridine alkaloid derived from medicinal plants that exhibits significant antitumor activity. Its mechanism of action primarily involves the induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, which serves as a key driver for its cytotoxic effects. This ROS accumulation subsequently triggers the activation of the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway, induces endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and promotes autophagy-mediated cell death.
