64Cu-DDR2 is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent consisting of a molecule that targets discoidin domain receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (DDR2), labeled with the radioisotope copper-64. DDR2 is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in cell adhesion, migration, and extracellular matrix remodeling. Overexpression or mutation of DDR2 has been implicated in various cancers and fibrotic diseases. The mechanism of action for 64Cu-DDR2 involves binding to the DDR2 protein on target cells, allowing for non-invasive positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to visualize and quantify DDR2 expression in vivo. This can aid in cancer diagnosis, patient stratification for targeted therapies, and monitoring disease progression or response to treatment.
