Overview

64Cu-FAP-2286 is a copper-64 (64Cu) radiolabeled peptidomimetic diagnostic agent that targets Fibroblast Activation Protein (FAP). FAP is a transmembrane serine protease highly expressed on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the tumor microenvironment of most solid tumors, while its expression in normal adult tissues is very low. By binding to FAP, 64Cu-FAP-2286 enables the detection and localization of primary and metastatic lesions via positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Originally developed by 3B Pharmaceuticals and subsequently licensed to Novartis, the compound is being investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials to evaluate its safety, dosimetry, and diagnostic performance in patients with various solid tumors, including breast cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and sarcoma.
