Overview

64Cu-NOTA-C60-PEG-cRGD is a fullerene-based radiopharmaceutical nanoprobe designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of tumors. It consists of a C60 fullerene core functionalized with polyethylene glycol (PEG) to enhance water solubility and biocompatibility. The platform is conjugated with cyclic Arg-Gly-Asp (cRGD) peptides, which specifically target integrin alpha-V/beta-3, a cell surface receptor highly expressed in various cancers, including glioblastoma, and tumor-associated blood vessels. The compound utilizes the bifunctional chelator NOTA (1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid) to sequester the positron-emitting radioisotope copper-64 (64Cu). This nanoplatform is characterized by its small size (100-120 nm), high tumor uptake, and notably fast renal clearance, making it a promising candidate for safer cancer imaging and potentially theranostic applications.
