Drug intelligence / Profile preview
64Cu-O19 is a preclinical-stage copper-64 (64Cu) radiolabeled porphyrin-folate conjugate designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of folate receptor alpha (FRα)-overexpressing cancers, particularly ovarian cancer. Developed by Oncurie in collaboration with North Carolina State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the compound consists of a folate targeting motif conjugated to a proprietary porphyrin chelator core that binds copper-64 with high affinity. The O19 compound features a compact swallowtail-like structure and is conjugated at either the alpha- or gamma-carboxylic acid site of folic acid. In preclinical models of ovarian cancer, 64Cu-O19 has demonstrated high uptake in FRα-positive cells and favorable biodistribution, making it a promising diagnostic candidate in a theranostic pair alongside a copper-67 therapeutic counterpart.
