**64Cu-porphysomes** are a nanoparticle-based investigational radiopharmaceutical engineered for cancer imaging using positron emission tomography (PET). Porphysomes are organic, biodegradable lipid nanovesicles composed of pegylated porphyrin-lipid conjugates, which chelate the radioactive isotope copper-64. This enables visualization of tumor tissue due to tumor-preferential accumulation, capitalizing on both the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect and, in some constructs, targeted molecular recognition (e.g., folate receptor targeting)[1][2][3][5]. The nanoparticles provide multimodal imaging (PET, fluorescence) and have demonstrated selective accumulation in tumors and metastatic tissue in both preclinical and early clinical settings. The compound is being developed for precise detection, delineation, and tracking of primary tumors and metastases, including in ovarian and prostate cancer[2][4][5].
