64Cu-SAR-bisPSMA is a next-generation copper-based radiopharmaceutical developed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-positive lesions in patients with prostate cancer. It is designed to improve the detection and management of prostate cancer, particularly in cases of biochemical recurrence and suspected metastasis. The drug leverages a dual-targeting bisPSMA structure for increased uptake and retention in cancerous lesions, while the longer half-life of copper-64 allows for flexible imaging schedules and centralized manufacturing. This results in higher sensitivity compared to standard-of-care PSMA PET agents such as gallium-68 or fluorine-18 based products, enabling earlier and more accurate detection of small or otherwise difficult-to-detect lesions. The primary developer is Clarity Pharmaceuticals[1][2][3][4][5][8].
