64Zn-aspartate (KLS-1) is a pharmaceutical agent consisting of zinc aspartate enriched with the stable isotope zinc-64 (>99%), designed to enhance metabolic and antioxidant effects associated with zinc delivery. Preclinical and clinical studies indicate that it **modulates oxidative stress, lipid metabolism, and glucose homeostasis**, resulting in reduced body mass and improved organ histopathology in obesity and potentially therapeutic benefits in metabolic and neurodegenerative conditions. Mechanistically, it is proposed to normalize markers of oxidative stress (catalase, superoxide dismutase), improve insulin receptor tyrosine phosphorylation and glucose transporter translocation, and inhibit protein tyrosine phosphatase-1B, which together enhance insulin signaling and glucose uptake independent of insulin. KLS-1 has been studied in intravenous and intragastric formulations for obesity and other metabolic disorders[1][3][5].
