Drug intelligence / Profile preview
67Cu-EB-TATE (also known as [67Cu]Cu-DOTA-EB-TATE) is a next-generation peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) and theranostic agent being developed for the treatment of somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SSTR2)-positive neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), such as gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). It consists of the somatostatin analog octreotate (TATE) conjugated to a DOTA chelator and a truncated Evans Blue (EB) moiety, radiolabeled with the beta- and gamma-emitting radionuclide copper-67 (67Cu). The Evans Blue moiety reversibly binds to endogenous serum albumin, significantly extending the blood half-life and improving tumor uptake and retention compared to conventional SSTR2-targeted agents like 177Lu-DOTATATE. The copper-67 isotope provides therapeutic beta-minus emissions for tumor destruction and gamma emissions suitable for SPECT/CT imaging, enabling a theranostic approach. The agent is being developed by Molecular Targeting Technologies, Inc. (MTTI) in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan, utilizing technology originally patented by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
