Overview

68Ga-A9-6217 is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical developed by Alpha-9 Oncology for the detection and imaging of tumors expressing the Gastrin-Releasing Peptide Receptor (GRPR). The agent consists of a small molecule ligand, A9-6217, labeled with the positron-emitting radioisotope Gallium-68 (68Ga). GRPR is a G protein-coupled receptor that is frequently overexpressed in several common cancers, including prostate and breast cancer, while showing limited expression in normal tissues. By binding specifically to GRPR, 68Ga-A9-6217 enables visualization of tumor lesions via positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. This diagnostic tool is intended to facilitate patient selection for GRPR-targeted therapies and to monitor treatment response. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with breast and prostate cancer.
