Overview

68Ga-BMS986192 is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent consisting of a Gallium-68 (68Ga) labeled Adnectin that specifically targets Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1). Adnectins are a proprietary class of small, stable proteins derived from the human fibronectin type III domain, engineered to bind with high affinity to specific targets. Developed by Bristol Myers Squibb, this tracer is utilized in positron emission tomography (PET) to non-invasively assess PD-L1 expression levels across all tumor lesions in a patient. This provides a more comprehensive view of the immune landscape compared to traditional tissue biopsies, which are subject to sampling errors due to spatial and temporal heterogeneity. By quantifying PD-L1 expression in vivo, 68Ga-BMS986192 PET helps identify patients most likely to benefit from PD-1/PD-L1 checkpoint inhibitor therapies and monitors changes in expression during treatment.
