Drug intelligence / Profile preview
68Ga-CAIX is a gallium-68 (68Ga) labeled radiopharmaceutical targeting carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), designed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging tracer. CAIX is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is highly overexpressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and various other hypoxic solid tumors, while its expression in normal tissues is highly restricted. By binding specifically to CAIX, 68Ga-CAIX allows for high-contrast, non-invasive visualization of CAIX-expressing primary and metastatic lesions. It is being clinically evaluated, notably by Peking University First Hospital, for the detection, characterization, and staging of renal tumors and other solid malignancies.
