Drug intelligence / Profile preview
68Ga-DOTA-Bombesin is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent designed for use in positron emission tomography (PET)/magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for patients with prostate cancer. This radioactive substance functions by attaching to specific receptors, primarily the Gastrin-Releasing Peptide Receptor (GRPR), which are frequently overexpressed on the surface of tumor cells. The binding of 68Ga-DOTA-Bombesin to these receptors allows for the visualization of cancerous tissue during PET/MRI scans, thereby assisting in the differentiation between tumor and healthy prostate tissue and potentially enabling the identification of smaller tumors than standard imaging methods.
