68Ga-DOTA-CTC1 is an investigational radiopharmaceutical diagnostic tracer developed by the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital for the detection and staging of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The agent comprises the positron-emitting isotope Gallium-68 (68Ga) chelated by DOTA and conjugated to CTC1, a specific peptide ligand identified via phage display that targets Glypican-3 (GPC3). GPC3 is an oncofetal antigen that is significantly upregulated in HCC cells but has minimal expression in normal adult liver tissue, providing a high target-to-background ratio for molecular imaging. By utilizing Positron Emission Tomography (PET), 68Ga-DOTA-CTC1 aims to improve the diagnostic accuracy, biodistribution assessment, and lesion detection in patients with suspected HCC, particularly in cases where standard 18F-FDG PET-CT imaging is inconclusive.
