Overview
68Ga-DOTA-FAPI is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. It consists of a fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) labeled with the radioisotope gallium-68 (68Ga) via a DOTA chelator. The agent specifically targets fibroblast activation protein (FAP), which is highly expressed on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the tumor stroma of various malignant neoplasms, while showing minimal expression in normal tissues. Developed by Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, it is being evaluated for its diagnostic performance and staging capabilities in patients with various cancers, often in comparison to conventional 18F-FDG PET imaging.
