68Ga-DOTA-JR11 is a radiolabeled peptide used as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent for the detection of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). It consists of the somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SSTR2) antagonist JR11 conjugated to the chelator DOTA and labeled with gallium-68, a positron-emitting radionuclide. Unlike traditional somatostatin analogs that act as agonists, JR11 is an SSTR2 antagonist, which has been shown to provide higher tumor uptake and improved tumor-to-background ratios in imaging. This results in enhanced sensitivity for detecting liver metastases from NETs compared to other agents such as 68Ga-DOTATATE. The drug demonstrates rapid clearance from blood and low background uptake in normal organs, making it particularly useful for visualizing hepatic lesions[1][2][3][5]. It is primarily used in research settings and clinical trials for PET/CT imaging of patients with well-differentiated or metastatic neuroendocrine tumors[1][2].
