68Ga-DOTA-NT is a radiopharmaceutical compound consisting of the neurotensin analog peptide DOTA-NT (DOTA-conjugated neurotensin) labeled with the positron-emitting radionuclide gallium-68. It is designed for use in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to target and visualize tumors that overexpress the neurotensin receptor subtype 1 (NTSR1). The mechanism of action involves specific binding of the radiolabeled peptide to NTSR1 on tumor cells, enabling high-sensitivity detection and localization of NTSR1-positive malignancies, such as certain pancreatic adenocarcinomas. This agent has demonstrated higher PET detection rates for some cancers compared to standard tracers like 18F-FDG[2]. The compound is primarily used in research and investigational settings.
