68Ga-HER2-affibody is a novel radiopharmaceutical imaging agent developed by Peking University First Hospital for the non-invasive assessment of HER2 expression in patients with breast cancer and other solid tumors. The agent consists of an affibody molecule (MZHER2:342), which is a 6.5 kDa peptide derived from a non-immunoglobulin scaffold, labeled with the positron emitter Gallium-68 (68Ga) via a NOTA-MAL linker. It specifically binds to the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), allowing for high-contrast PET/CT imaging. This diagnostic tool is particularly useful for determining HER2 status when standard examinations (such as biopsy or FDG PET/CT) are inconclusive, providing accurate staging and aiding in treatment decision-making for HER2-targeted therapies.
