68Ga-HSA (Gallium-68 Human Serum Albumin) is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical developed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. It consists of human serum albumin (HSA) labeled with the positron-emitting radioisotope gallium-68, typically using a chelating agent such as DTPA. Developed by the Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute, the probe is primarily intended for the diagnosis and localization of protein-losing enteropathy (PLE), a condition characterized by the abnormal loss of serum proteins into the gastrointestinal lumen. Compared to the traditional SPECT tracer 99mTc-HSA, 68Ga-HSA offers superior image resolution, sensitivity, and signal-to-noise ratio, facilitating the identification of specific leakage sites in patients with hypoproteinemia or digestive system tumors.
