Overview

68Ga-JMV 7488 is a radiopharmaceutical research compound developed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of tumors that overexpress the neurotensin receptor 2 (NTS2). It consists of a synthetic peptide analogue, JMV 7488 (DOTA-(βAla)2-Lys-Lys-Pro-(D)Trp-Ile-TMSAla-OH), which is conjugated to the chelator DOTA and radiolabeled with the positron-emitting isotope gallium-68. JMV 7488 acts as a selective NTS2 agonist, showing high affinity for NTS2 and negligible binding to the related NTS1 receptor. Preclinical evaluations in cell lines such as HT-29 and MCF-7, as well as in mouse xenograft models, have demonstrated NTS2-mediated internalization and significant tumor uptake. This compound is primarily being investigated for its potential in diagnosing and staging cancers such as prostate, pancreatic, and breast cancer, where NTS2 is frequently upregulated.
