Overview

68Ga-NOTA-Aca-BBN is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic imaging agent developed by Peking Union Medical College Hospital for the detection and evaluation of primary gliomas using positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). The agent consists of a bombesin (BBN) peptide analog, specifically the 7-14 fragment, conjugated to the chelator NOTA (1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid) via an aminocaproic acid (Aca) linker, and labeled with the positron-emitting isotope Gallium-68. It targets the gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR), which is frequently overexpressed in various tumors, including gliomas. By binding to GRPR, the tracer allows for non-invasive visualization of tumor extent and receptor density, potentially aiding in the diagnosis and grading of brain tumors.
