Overview

68Ga-NOTA-Anti-MMR VHH2 is a radiopharmaceutical PET tracer designed for the non-invasive imaging of Tumor-Associated Macrophages (TAMs) within the tumor microenvironment. It consists of the positron-emitting radioisotope Gallium-68 (68Ga) conjugated via a NOTA (1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid) chelator to a VHH (nanobody) fragment, specifically the VHH2 clone, which targets the Macrophage Mannose Receptor (MMR, also known as CD206). MMR is highly expressed on M2-polarized macrophages, which are typically pro-tumoral and immunosuppressive. Developed by researchers at UZ Brussel and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, this tracer is primarily being investigated in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other solid tumors to assess the immune landscape and potentially predict or monitor response to immunotherapies.
