68Ga-NOTA-NFB is a peptide-based radiopharmaceutical designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4). The tracer consists of the positron-emitting radioisotope Gallium-68 (68Ga) chelated by 1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid (NOTA) and conjugated to a specific CXCR4 antagonist peptide, NFB (a derivative of the T140 peptide). CXCR4 is a G-protein coupled receptor that is frequently overexpressed in a wide variety of human cancers, where it mediates tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. By binding with high affinity and specificity to CXCR4, 68Ga-NOTA-NFB enables the non-invasive visualization and quantification of receptor density in vivo. This imaging agent is primarily utilized in clinical research for patient stratification, tumor staging, and monitoring the efficacy of CXCR4-targeted therapeutic interventions in malignancies such as glioma, lymphoma, and various solid tumors.
