Drug intelligence / Profile preview
68Ga-P137 is a novel gallium-68 labeled radiopharmaceutical designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) in patients with prostate cancer. Unlike traditional PSMA-targeting agents that utilize a glutamate-urea (Glu-Urea) scaffold (such as 68Ga-PSMA-11 or 68Ga-PSMA-617), 68Ga-P137 features an oxalyldiaminopropionic acid-urea (ODAP-Urea) pharmacophore. This structural modification provides improved water solubility, lower urinary excretion, and faster clearance from non-target organs. In clinical studies, 68Ga-P137 demonstrates comparable diagnostic performance to 68Ga-PSMA-11 for detecting primary and metastatic prostate cancer lesions, while its reduced bladder accumulation and renal excretion potentially enhance the visualization of lesions near the urinary tract and reduce radiation exposure to the kidneys.
