68Ga-Pentikra is a gallium-68 labeled radiopharmaceutical designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of the C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4). The tracer likely consists of a high-affinity peptide ligand targeting CXCR4 conjugated to a chelating agent (such as DOTA) that binds the positron-emitting isotope Gallium-68. CXCR4 is a G-protein coupled receptor that is significantly upregulated in various malignancies, including multiple myeloma and lymphomas, as well as in several inflammatory conditions. Upon intravenous administration, 68Ga-Pentikra binds specifically to CXCR4-expressing cells, allowing for non-invasive visualization and quantification of receptor density via PET/CT imaging. This diagnostic tool is intended for use in tumor staging, characterization of the tumor microenvironment, and potentially for identifying patients suitable for CXCR4-targeted therapies.
