68Ga-UZBRU-VHH2 is a radiopharmaceutical PET tracer developed by UZ Brussel for the non-invasive assessment of Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It consists of a high-affinity single-domain antibody (nanobody) fragment targeting PD-L1, conjugated to a NOTA chelator and labeled with the positron-emitting radioisotope Gallium-68. By utilizing PET imaging, 68Ga-UZBRU-VHH2 allows for the whole-body visualization of PD-L1 distribution across primary and metastatic tumor lesions, overcoming the limitations of spatial and temporal heterogeneity associated with traditional tissue biopsies. This imaging agent is primarily intended to assist in the selection of patients who are most likely to respond to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway.
