6Aβ15-THc-C is a **recombinant chimeric vaccine immunogen** designed for use as a candidate prophylactic vaccine against Alzheimer's disease. It is a fusion protein comprising the Aβ1-15 peptide epitope (derived from the amyloid-beta protein implicated in Alzheimer’s pathology) and a carrier segment derived from tetanus toxin (THc domain), which provides T-cell help and enhances immunogenicity. The vaccine targets amyloid-beta accumulation, stimulating the immune system to produce Aβ-specific antibodies and thereby mitigate Alzheimer’s disease-like pathology, reduce cognitive decline, and prevent synaptic loss as shown in preclinical mouse models. The formulation with alum adjuvant is referred to as rCV02[5][7][1][11]. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of B-cell responses and the generation of antibodies that recognize and facilitate the clearance of amyloid-beta, while relying on T-cell memory from prior immunization with tetanus vaccine, which is common in humans.
