Overview

6g is a novel, potent, and selective small molecule agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor TGR5 (also known as GPR131, GPBAR1, or M-BAR). Activation of TGR5 by 6g promotes the secretion of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and modulates insulin secretion, leading to glucose-lowering effects. It has demonstrated a favorable pharmacokinetic profile and potent glucose-lowering effects in vivo during oral glucose tolerance tests in DIO C57 mice. Developed by Zydus Research Centre, Cadila Healthcare Ltd., 6g is being investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
