Overview

6MPSoVn is a novel 2-styryl derivative of 4-oxo-1,4-dihydropyrimidine that acts as an inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Developed by researchers at the National Medical Research Centre for Oncology and the Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute, it specifically targets the internal domain of EGFR. In preclinical studies using the B16/F10 melanoma model, 6MPSoVn demonstrated significant anti-tumor activity by inducing extensive tumor necrosis and signs of necroptosis, accompanied by immune activation and connective tissue proliferation. Unlike gefitinib, which primarily induces apoptosis, 6MPSoVn appears to trigger cell death predominantly through necrotic pathways, making it a potential candidate for further investigation in melanoma therapy.
