7,8-Dihydroflavone (7,8-DHF) is a naturally occurring small molecule drug that acts as a TrkB receptor agonist. It stimulates lung tissue regeneration by enhancing the STAT3-BDNF-TrkB signaling pathway. This discovery, made through a collaboration between researchers at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, holds potential for developing new therapies for various lung diseases, including acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) caused by COVID-19.
