Overview

7-xylosyl-10-deacetylbaccatin III is a natural taxane derivative isolated from the needles and bark of yew trees, particularly the Chinese yew (*Taxus chinensis*). Developed by Hainan Yew Pharm (Hainan Hongshanshu Pharmaceutical), this small molecule is a structural analogue of paclitaxel and serves as both a potential antineoplastic agent and a key intermediate for the semi-synthesis of other taxoids. Its mechanism of action is consistent with the taxane class, involving the stabilization of microtubules. By binding to tubulin, it promotes the assembly of microtubules and inhibits their disassembly, which disrupts the dynamic instability necessary for mitotic spindle formation. This interference leads to cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and ultimately triggers apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Hainan Yew Pharm has included this compound in its oncology pipeline for the potential treatment of various solid tumors.
